MAMAS 2020 (Mnet Asian Music Awards) Best/Worst Dressed

 The 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) kicked off yesterday Dec 6th. Though there was no audience many artist still came with their best gear. Let’s look at some of the best and not so good. 

Also this is my first MAMA’s fashion review since the 2015 MAMA’s! Wow, it’s been a minute but if you’d like to check out those previous reviews click here. 

I’ll also include some of my favorite stage performance looks as well.

The English The Crown-esqe equestrian vibe from Moonbyul is chefs kiss. I also adored Wheein’s IG street-style vibe – basically a playful street glam. Hwasa’s all black androgynous look was perfect as well as the 90’s style glam from Solar.

Best Solo Male

Song Joong Ki

Dapper, regal…looking like he walked straight out of a movie – no one does it like SJK. The contrasting silk and velvet fabrics really add a stylish layer to an otherwise ordinary black suit.

Best Solo Female

Soo Young of SNSD

As soon as I saw her photo my mouth dropped: Miss SooYoung came to slay! The red color was a perfect bold choice that kisses her skin, the wrap waist shows off her curves and the thigh high split showcases a sassy elegance. I’ll even go as far to say this is the best look I’ve ever seen on a Korean female singer from an awards red carpet EVER. And if not that, at least in the 10 years I’ve watched and covered fashion from Korean award shows. Bravo, bravo.

Worst Dressed

This worst dressed list is the shortest I’ve ever put together! This year most brought their A game: just a handful did not. 

Day6

Enhypen

The blues clashed with the grays too much. It’s as if the recipe was a school uniform meets professional suit uniform that didn’t bake well. To A+ this look I’d have their stylist look at EXO’s Growl looks. 

IZ*ONE

Some of the looks I enjoyed but overall it came off a bit campy when all together. I love the floor length gowns the best but the shorter ones came off very Windsor/Debs for me. Those stores are fine to shop at but for a red carpet I’d want more elevated looks. 

Taemin

Unfortunately my bae, The King of Dance, The King of Artistry, The King of Cuteness ended up on my dislike list. It was the coin decor and blue button up for me.
