Hello again, travelers!
Downtown Louisville, Kentucky is full of art, charming bookstores and a plethora of chic eateries. Due to preconceived notions, I was truly surprised at how artistic and boho the area was. I don’t currently have much experience traveling down south other than Texas and Atlanta so the Bible Belt area is still quite new territory for me.
So when I headed down there for work, I was excited to discover what else the homeland of KFC had to offer. No matter what city I’m in, when it comes to food, there are two types of places I search for: cute/cozy coffee shops and Asian restaurants. I always want to find quaint cafes with cool decor and drink options, as well as the tastiest Korean, Japanese, Thai or Vietnamese spots.
Among the myriad of eateries that graced the streets, two spots stood out so in this blog post. So let’s delve into their unique offerings and explore why they should be at the top of your list when you find yourself in the vibrant city of Louisville.

The Eagle: Southern Comfort Food Elevated
📍1314 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40204 / Mon – Thur 4-11pm, Fri & Sat 11-12am, Sun 11-10pm
Step into The Eagle, and you’ll instantly be captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance. Known for its rustic charm, The Eagle seamlessly blends the old with the new, creating an atmosphere that is as comforting as the food it serves. The Eagle specializes in Southern comfort food with a modern twist, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Fried Chicken Perfection: The Eagle is renowned for its signature dish – fried chicken. I ordered a crispy and delicious fried chicken sandwich with coleslaw and spicy mayo. The brine chicken was a serious flavor explosion on my taste buds. Probably the moistest chicken I’ve ever eaten!
Sides That Steal the Show: What sets The Eagle apart is not just its main dishes but also its delectable sides. The sweet potato crock was presented with marshmallows on top and just the right amount of sweet mixed in. As I’ve gotten older, some foods I grew up on I realized I actually didn’t care for much- sweet potatoes being one of them. But somehow, The Eagle was able to create a flavorful potato dish that wasn’t overpowering.
Craft Beer and Cocktails: With a curated selection of craft beers, there’s no end to what drinks you can pair with your meal. Since I’m usually intimidated by the complex world of beers, I opted for a Miller Lite but I’d like to one day delve into beer tasting.
Also if you’re a book lover like me, check out the Carmichael’s Bookstore on the way to our next location. Some of their eclectic books you won’t find at chain bookstores. Enjoy! 📍1295 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40204 / Mon-Thur 9-8pm, Fri & Sat 9-9pm, Sun 9-5pm
